The Kennedy Forum’s Post

The Kennedy Forum reposted this

Last Friday, we concluded our 19th conference with a special focus on the importance of behavioral and mental health. Throughout the day, we discussed how our members can support policy changes and advocate for much-needed progress in this field.   Our conference began with an inspiring talk by Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy from The Kennedy Forum. He shared innovative approaches to financing holistic mental health care, and his passion for this cause shone brightly.   Next, we had the privilege of listening to Julianne Holt-Lunstad, Ph.D., Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee at The Foundation for Social Connection and Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at Brigham Young University. She talked about the effects of social isolation and loneliness on an individual's health, and identified the policy changes needed to address this growing epidemic in the US.   Our conference ended with a valuable session led by Melissa Schulman, Senior Vice President of Government & Public Affairs at CVS Health. She provided our members with insights on effective lobbying strategies on Capitol Hill, including tips on conducting impactful discussions with staffers that can be translated into action.   Thank you to all our attendees and speakers for contributing to a successful conference! #PolicyAdvocacy #HealthcareImpact
